Mainz 05's women's team has signed Rio Takizawa from SC Sand ahead of their first season in the Frauen-Bundesliga. The 29-year-old Japanese midfielder is a central or attacking midfielder. Takizawa moved to Sand from AC Nagano in 2023. In the 2025/26 season, she played all 26 games in the second Frauen-Bundesliga for the Baden-Württemberg women (two goals, five assists). In total, she has played 84 games in the second league for SC Sand (10 goals, 11 assists).
