Mainz 05’s Sport Director Christian Heidel has recently addressed the ongoing transfer speculation surrounding key players Nadiem Amiri, Kaishu Sano, and Paul Nebel. In a statement to kicker, Heidel made it clear that Mainz 05 retains full control over player departures and will not sell any player without a plan in place for their replacement.

Heidel Clarifies Club's Position on Player Transfers

Heidel explicitly stated that the club decides who leaves and does not allow players to make such decisions themselves. According to him, selling all three players at once would be nonsensical, as it would leave Mainz 05 without a clear strategy for player replacements. He also emphasized that there is no immediate need to generate large transfer fees quickly.

Heidel was particularly concerned with reports in Sport Bild suggesting that Amiri had already agreed on terms with RB Leipzig and that negotiations between the two clubs were progressing well. However, he stated that neither Amiri nor the club management were aware of such developments. Heidel noted that Mainz 05 maintains good relations with Leipzig, especially through their contact with Marcel Schäfer, but there has been no discussion about this specific topic.

No Immediate Departure for Sano

Regarding Kaishu Sano, who is linked to a potential transfer fee of up to 60 million euros, Heidel stated that the player's future remains uncertain. At present, he affirmed, there are no plans for his departure. The claim that someone from the club will definitely leave has been dismissed as false.

Mainz 05 has already completed several transfers this summer, including Fabio Gruber, Eric Martel, and Ransford Königsdörffer. However, the club's outgoing transfer list remains empty. Heidel intends to maintain this status quo until a solid plan is in place for any potential departures.
